At the center of old Riyadh the crumbling mud brick edifices of the Dalat Al Malik Abd Aziz and surrounding area are the location for the new Saudi Arabian National Museum. Chris Miles, then Design Director for HOK Studio E, and a design team were responsible for the exhibit master plan components of the design submittal. The architectural plan was conceived by Guyo Obata, with contributions on historical preservation from the HOK London office, headed by architect Peter Richards. Event and Media Projects International of London also supplied design concepts. The presentation was made in July 1996. HOK was judged runner up in the submittal.
