Chris Miles is an English born vision planner and creative designer specialized in leisure destinations. He has produced many projects throughout the world, particularly in Europe, North America and the Far East. His is an experience honed by considerable exposure to architecture, story telling, history, theater presentation, and film.
Educated at Oxford in applied design and architecture and commencing work in London he contributed to award winning films by animators Halas and Batchelor. At TVC, as designer, he was responsible within the creative production team for the Beatles’ film Yellow Submarine. He joined theatrical and set designer Sean Kenny and worked on Gulliver’s Travels, among other plays and productions. He co-founded with Malcolm Lewis the English firm Media in the late sixties. From 1970 under the banner CMA he acted as design consultant on a range of projects ranging from the planning and design of Britain’s first theme park to novel discotheques, museum exhibits, large-scale exhibitions and interesting restaurants.
In the years ‘74-‘79 he was international director of London based Cairnes Design, for whom he carried out projects in Africa, Europe and the USA. Moving to Florida in 1980 he was the creative director of Little England, a new theme park, later joining HHCP Architects in Maitland, Florida, as the founding director of the Leisure and Hospitality Division. Over ten years this division under his design leadership expanded with assignments for SeaWorld and Universal Studios in the USA, in theme park projects in France, England and Italy, and later in the Arabian Gulf and Japan. From 1992 Miles worked as Design Principal to C.T. Hsu International. Several years later he joined Landmark in California as Vice President of Planning, before moving back to Florida in 1995 for Senior VP Design Director positions at HOK Studio E, and for URS Entertainment Services in 2000. He was design director of the Heron City projects in Spain and Sweden, and a design director of Universal’s CityWalk project in Orlando.
Lighthouse Creative, Inc, was founded by Miles as a multi-disciplined design studio in 2002. It has since prospered by providing intelligent planning, design and consulting to over fifty projects with existing or new national and international clients. Miles speaks six European languages and considers cultural awareness to be the principle contributor to his successful professional career.
